What’s the story? Israeli security forces kill Palestinians, Palestinians protest

Israel’s police forces shot dead a Palestinian woman and her children and wounded a dozen others Thursday in an attack that also left a Palestinian man critically wounded, Palestinian officials and witnesses said.

The Israeli military said the Palestinian teenager, 15-year-old Khader al-Shirazi, was shot by Israeli soldiers on a motorbike.

The police said two other Palestinians were wounded.

The Israeli army said it was investigating the shooting.

In a statement, the military said a police unit had been called to a house in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah after a man called a friend, identified as Khader, to say he had been shot.

He said he and a friend were driving to the scene when Israeli soldiers shot at the car, killing a 19-year old man and wounding three others.

The Palestinian health ministry said Khader was taken to the hospital in critical condition and was in a stable condition in intensive care.

It said he was shot while he was standing on the hood of a car, and the car had no identification tags on it.

A statement from the Palestinian police said the two wounded Palestinians were taken to a hospital in Ramallah and their condition was described as serious.

It also said the police had launched an investigation into the shooting and had launched a criminal investigation.

Israeli authorities said they were investigating the attack.

In a statement on Twitter, a spokeswoman for the Shin Bet security service said the shooting was “in retaliation for the kidnapping and murder of Khader,” who was killed during a knife attack.

The Shin Bet said it would open an investigation.

Earlier, the Israeli army tweeted that it had launched “unlawful arrests” against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The army has been using a controversial policy of detaining Palestinians in military courts, which critics say is a tool of Israeli oppression.
